Silas Hawkins born on a rocky road in Mississippi. Silas always loved to draw and make toys to play with, as a child he would use his imagination to create a fun atmosphere. Silas entire family was very creative, mother was a known seamstress and a southern cook, so there was a lot of traffic in Silas’s household. He was the youngest of eight children to a single mother, so it wasn’t easy coming up, leftovers, hand-me-downs, pea shelling, dirt sweeping, and hog slaughtering was the way of life. Through it all Silas learned that the world is a beautiful place, if you just stop and take a look at it. Folk art is in his blood, since he grew up surrounded by it.
